The national leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party met in Abuja on Thursday over the conduct of the rerun governorship election in Osun State. While rejecting it, the party also said that the Thursday election was one of the worst days in the history of Nigeria. He  described the election as a black day for the nation. The National Chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus, spoke at an emergency meeting after the meeting of members of the PDP National Working Committee. A clear winner emerged yesterday in the Osun State governorship election at the close of the second ballot which held in seven units across four local government areas of the State of the Living Spring. The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) garnered enough votes to knock off the 353 votes the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) led with at the close of the first ballot early Sunday morning. After the collation of eligible ballot by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), APC candidate Gboyega Isiaka, with 254,345 votes, was trailing PDP’s Isiaka Adeleke, who polled 254, 696. The Nigeria Police Force on Wednesday paraded a 43 year old man suspected to have made scary threats asking former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar to either withdraw from the 2019 presidential race or have his plane blown up mid-air. According to police spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, an Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police, the suspect named Augustus Akpan allegedly used a stolen phone to explicitly threaten the wife and daughters of the former Vice President with rape. Akpan who hails from Edemaya village, Ikot Abasi LGA, Akwa Ibom State was arrested while fleeing to Lagos.
